Movie Review : Falls Short

| Posted by ChicksdigScars on 2008/12/5 7:01:26 (954 reads) |
A film review by Mercy at IMDB, used with permission. Thanks!!SPOILERS
>>>>> The Day the Earth Stood Still remake is a strange film to review. First of all, I wouldn't call it a remake at all. It's a complete overhaul and reinvention of the 1951 film. Was I one of those people who liked the 1951 film? Well I did, in parts, but I'm a child of my era and I had problems with the logic in the old film e.g: why oh why would the government only put two guards on Gort???

Actor Keanu Reeves was in London this week to promote The Day the Earth Stood Still, a remake of the 1951 science-fiction classic.
Best known for his roles in Speed, Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure and the Matrix trilogy, actor Keanu Reeves combines boyish good looks with a Zen-like, almost spiritual calm.

Back to the future … but which one? by Alison Rowat
Keanu Reeves believes there is life on other planets, but then you probably thought he might. If any movie star has a touch of the twilight zone about him, it is the man from The Matrix, Johnny Mnemonic and A Scanner Darkly. Even when he's in a relatively conventional thriller, such as The Devil's Advocate with Al Pacino, the enigmatic Reeves comes across as the original actor who fell to Earth.

UK Telegraph has a nice interview with Keanu:
The star talks to Will Lawrence about how he approached his performance as a visiting alien in the remake of a sci-fi classic
Keanu Reeves wants to know how many years I have. It's an unusual expression, akin to an English-language translation of the French "Quel âge avez-vous?" Maybe this should come as no great surprise - after all, Reeves grew up in Canada.
